Mad Max Styled Shoot at the Paint Mines – Denver Senior Photographer
Once upon a time, long ago, on a blazing hot day….
OK, so, yes…this post is WAY late getting published. And this poor blog has been neglected – but let me tell ya, THIS is the perfect post to reignite the spark because this shoot was HOT!
Back in June (which in many ways feels like last week and others feels like a lifetime ago) we took a Team Twenty18 excursion to the Pain Mines to turn a long time vision of mine into reality. I have wanted to do a Mad Max styled shoot FOREVER. I love the sheer bad-assery of the mad max look, and knew that I had a team that could truly pull it off this year!
Each year, I take my senior model intern team on a photo “safari” as both a teambuilding exercise and to get some great, out-of-the-norm photos. From Left to Right – Brenna, Drena, Sammie, Maeve (front), Kennedy, Haylee, Mekenzie (front), and Gabby brought my vision to life. We gave the girls some simple direction on costuming and they ran with it – to perfection I might add. Bring in Christina Robledo for makeup and some crazy hair by none other than me – and the looks were complete!
The Paint Mines, in Calahan, CO were the ideal backdrop for this apocalyptic theme – and a recommended day trip because they are absolutely spectacular!! BUT HOT….there is NO shade – bring a LOT of water (right girls?!) and plenty of sunscreen! I wish I had photographed the crazy tans the girls got from their ripped leggings and mesh!
At the end of the shoot, I though we would all pass out on the hike back out – We were exhausted, sunburned, parched – but so pumped!! It was truly one of my favorite shoots and and was such a fun experience for the girls. It was so great to see them all looking so POWERFUL, strong and confident! They killed it.
